Commercial Description:
In the small village of Meer, north of the city of Antwerp, there used to be an abbey which was famous for its beer named St. Paul. During the French Revolution, the abbey was destroyed and so it was said-one father named Paul, rescued the secret recipes to brew the abbey beer and trust them onto the local Sterkens family, at that time a renowned brewer family. The Sterkens family had been brewing beer since 1654, and their St. Paul abbey beer is still brewed today, respectfully according to the centuries old tradition.

Thia brew poured from a beautiful white with black speckles ceramic bottle create a small head of mostly diminished off-white colored finely sized bubbles that left behind a transparent uncarbonated brwon colored body and a good lace. The aroma was that of a nice mild brown malt and dough while the mouthfeel was tingly and vinuous yet smoothened in the finish. The flavor was warming with notes of brown malt and mild vinuous sweet dough.

A red licorice and chocolate cure for the sweet tooth...Candyish cherries are saddened by the fizzy metallic tinge in the end...A good children's dubbel...

Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is light brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, molasses), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with a note of dates. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Somewhat unfinished smelling, not much to counter the sugary sweetness.

Nice spicey and malty. A classic Abbey Dubbel. Cool bottle. It was nice and complex.

Bonus appearance points for the light grey ceramic bottle. Beer was light brown and clear, small head, some lacing. Malty, lightly sweet, yeasty, some roast, fruity, dry finish. Nice.

Clear red-brown coloured, small head, nice lacing. Malty sweet aroma, some nuts, bit fruity. Malty flavour, some hops, bit spicy. Bittersweet finish. OK brew, but not a very special dubbel. Nice bottle though.
