| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 6, 2005 Brown amber body with a large light tan head, actually it couldn’t wait to get out of the bottle. Clumps of lacing down the glass. Pleasant aroma of cinnamon and malt. Taste is malty, a bit thin and watery, dark fruit and some spice. This would be ok for a session beer but not much else. Sampled in room temperature. Dark brown, foamy beige head. Malty, fuity, not very strong nose. Medium-bodied, metallic. Slightly coffee-like flavor. Lame grassy hoppy notes. One-dimensional but anyway easy to drink and not a bad brew as such. sayravai (3765), Helsinki, Finland
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 26, 2005 (Bottled) Hazy darkish amber color with big yeast clumps and a very small head, plus some lace. Very pleasant and quite complex, sweetish-malty, raisiny aroma with rye pudding hints and strong, hoppy and vineous berriness. The flavor is much like Westmalle’s (sweeter, though), with plenty of hops, malt, yeast, orange-peel, and raisiny-rye-pudding. Medium-bodied, soft palate with very balanced carbonation. Slightly sugary-slicky and bitter. An extremely pleasant, easily drinkable and wonderfully balanced brew, that I could drink all night long (it even has a low ABV)! Forget all the watery British ales - here’s the (almost) perfect session brew!!!
