Appearance is nothing to write home about. Golden in color, basically no lacing or head to speak of. Aroma is VERY skunky. Taste is sweet and somewhat grassy, .. with a weird, somewhat dry aftertaste that is also a bit like grass, or maybe straw. Not recommended.

I was stuck drinking this for thanksgiving dinner. Refreshing and smooth but overall, bleh.

Green bottle. Skunky flavor is dominant flavor with light hop flavor. Typical golden color for a classic german pilsner. Thin body, almost no head, and medium carbonation. Will not drink unless completely drunk.

Bottle. Pours a clear, light yellow with a minuscule white head that diminishes quickly. No lacing. Corn, hay, metallic aroma. Taste is sweet corn, metallic astringency. Seltzer water body. Lively carbonation. Quick, sweet finish.

Egads... the skunk out of this one is ferocious. 12 ounce bottle. Crystal clear pale golden color with a thin head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of grass, skunk, grains and sawdust. Taste is fruity, almost like apple juice. A bit of grassiness and skunk. Thin bodied. Typical.

Bottle. Pours yellow with a big white head. Aroma is grainy malt and skunked hops. Flavor pretty much follows suit.

22. Green bottle. Sigh. More skunk right on time. Pours crystal clear medium gold with a towering, frothy, platinum blonde head. Corny, skunky nose. Watery, cottony body. Corn and skunkage on the mid-palate. A little grass on the finish.

12 oz. bottle from Northside Tavern. Pours a clear pale gold with a foamy white head. Aroma of malt, mild hops, grain, cereal, grass, and straw. Flavor follows suit, with just the lightest bit of funk- and this I appreciate because so many other German macros have an unmistakable, unpleasant funk to them. I’d rather have that dialed back, and SPG does so. Light mouthfeel, active carbonation, crisp finish and minimal aftertaste. Nothing special, but not awful for the style.
