MrBunn (889), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours a medium brown color with a mid to small head. Aromas are German skunk hops (especially right after the cap is popped) and dunkel smells of dusty grains, wood and wet cardboard. Flavor is a nice blend of nuts, wood, dust and those hops... Cybercat (421), Georgia, USA Sep 25, 2008 Pours a nice clear mahogany with a decent sized, but not very persistent, tan head. Aroma is malty with just a hint of molasses, crisp like a typical lager aroma. Flavor is fairly smooth, malty with some hop bitterness and a subtle undertone of molasses or caramel. Texture is rather smooth, and it does dance a little on the tongue. thornecb (1130), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Sep 20, 2008 Pours mahogany into a shaker. Coca cola head. Dark caramel aromas. Cry and crisp from front to back. Not much in the flavor department but not obtrusive. llbjr77 (59), Largo, Florida, USA Sep 16, 2008 Pours a rich brown color with a medium head. Smells of malts, caramel and something else that I cannot quite describe. Very disappointed with taste-nothing like a dark beer should taste--almost bland. Too much carbonation as well. JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 13, 2008 Deep brown beer with a thick fast fading tan head. Aroma is fairly sweet and toasty. Nice light sweet malty aroma. A lot more character than I expected. Sweet nuts, hazelnuts and a light herbal cocoaish character. Lightly skunky but this fades fairly quickly. Flavour is decent... soft toasted malts, sweet and lightly plummy with a bit of toastiness. Lingering sweetness.
