fidel (211), Livermore, California, USA Oct 7, 2008 Dark Brown, roasted malts, coffee, little chocolate, little dark fruits, little caramel. Aquilo (168), California, USA Oct 6, 2008 Dark color, almost black, but if you hold it up to the light, it has some red highlights. Smell seem to be all wrong, though. At first, there was some sulfery bottle stink. I usually ignore this, since it’s common in imports, and it tends to go away after you pour it. But I wasn’t expecting this from a porter. Then the stink began to give way to an overbearing roasted malt aroma. Perhaps roasted is being too nice. It frankly smells burnt. The flavor is much better, but I still think that the malt is overbearing here. There is a little bit of dried fruit and possibly chocolate, and I would like to taste that more. It just doesn’t come through past the malt. gam (580), brisbane, Australia Sep 19, 2008 Light tan head, good carbonation in a very dark red/brown pour.Aroma caramel, maltness, chocolate, honey, fruit.Flavour, dry fruity, bitter, malt to smooth the tastes, chocolate, caramel, citric peel, plenty of flavour in the porter.Tangy and dry at the finish. BREWMUSKCLES (799), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Sep 4, 2008 NICE malty AND WINEY with adequate flavors of chocolate and licorice a bit nutty with a slight old waxy flavor. beer is thinnish and a bit slick it is altogeather weak uncarbonated and unremarkable in that respect. a butterscotch brandy port kind of taste and mouthfeel toward the back of the palate. interestingly demonstrative in taste would be better with a tad more kick and carbonation or smoothness or body. SeanMacGC (54), Dublin, Ireland Aug 3, 2008 Bottle, 500 ml. Pours dark bronze, with decent, but short-lived, head. Malty on both the nose and the palate, and decent mouthfeel and flavour.
