Pours a dark black color with a massive tan head of two fingers that settles slowly and provides lace on the glass. Aroma is sweet, dark ripe fruit, caramel, toffee, hints of nuts and spice. Flavor is more of roasted malt, coffee, toffee, and faint chocolate notes. Complex nose of chocolate, toffee, dark fruits, and spices. Finished sweet, bitter, and fruity with a boozy nip to it. Nice beer! Eyedrinkale (3109), Beer Town, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle, poured into a Kapuziner glass. Black with a tan head that doesn’t sticks around for too long. Aroma is anise and chocolate malts. Flavor has a nice burnt anise thing going on along with some mint and fennel. There’s some plum and a mellow earthiness with some coffee. Really a lot of flavors here. I like for an Old Ale that it’s not as sticky sweet as most of the beers of this style I’ve tried.
