| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 11, 2009 Deep cocolate brown with a generous beige head and nice lacing. Slight dark fruits in the aroma, but mostly sweet malts, caramelized sugars, and an earthy yeastiness. Chewy sweet bready malts up front, with candy sugar, cherries and plums close behind. Very slight tartness, and a bit of warming alcohol. Medium to full body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, and a lingering maltiness in the aftertaste. There are better examples of the style, but not much. Extra points for the cool ceramic bottle.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Pours a chunky dark brown with a medium tan head that recedes down to a small film. I can literally see chunks floating about within. Aroma is mainly of roasted malt, olive oil, slightly metallic. Porterish aroma, if anything. Flavor makes up for the inital dullness. Very malty with sweet molasses and brown sugar notes. Gentle hops. Full mouthfeel yet spritzy = pleasant. In the end, I liked it a lot. Overall, very good plus. Taste and aroma of fruits (raisins/plums), spices, caramel, and hints of chocolate. Smooth with a nice fnish. Taverner (880), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2009 16 oz ceramic bottle. Nice bottle, kind of a boring beer though. Pours cola brown with almost no head. Very smooth (as I think this has sat a long time at BevMo.) Aroma of dark fruit; raisins, prunes, molasses, and figs. Finish is clean for me. Like I said, very smooth in the ceramic bottles. SECONDARY NOTE: hmmm...there are definitely some leathery notes here. It is not as it appears to be. Borresteijn (1441), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 19, 2009 75cl Bottle. Clear dark brown colour, off white head. Aroma of brown sugar, molasses, dark malts and some metal. Flavour is sweet, molasses, caramel, malts, light roasted malts, light bitter finish. Medium bodied, prickly mouthfeel. OK, but a bit too sweet and one dimensional. jimmiec (66), Louisiana, USA
