IlanMan (571), Winona, Minnesota, USA Mar 25, 2008 Pour is medlum to light golden. Aroma is very strong with fruit and belgian yeast. Taste is very fruity and delicious! 10% abv?! That alcohol is the most hidden I have ever tasted. Incredible. This is a great brew. Buy it! This is under-rated for sure. Watch this one rise in the percentiles real quick. Wow.
ahalloin (47), Arlington, Virginia, USA Sep 30, 2008 Pours a clear dark golden color, similar to what apple juice would look like with champagne bubbles and a thick frothy head. The head formed quickly from the odd pouring bottle but then leveled off to a healthy one finger width. The aroma is akin to most Belgian golden ales with notes of sour fruit, sour bread dough, flowers, and a touch of leather. The flavor starts off with a quick sweet jab, but quickly recedes into a dominating floral hoppy body with a very dry finish. Some sweetish Belgian malts are present in the background. The overall mouthfeel is medium large with a good dose of carbonation. I would buy this again. Boutip (1810), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Sep 12, 2008 Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of sweet Belgian style malt with some fuse alcohol also noticeable. Taste is also somewhat one-dimensional with some discernable alcohol and some overly sweet Belgian style malt. I thought it was lacing some ester or some yeast character too be truly engaging. Not bad but not something I would go out of my way to try again. roder_60 (872), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 16, 2008 I admit, I bought this because the bottle looked cool and I figured I’d use it for homebrew. Pours a clear bright orange with big bubbly white foam on top - quickly dissapates. Aroma is very sweet - caramel, honey, and oranges. Mouthfeel surprisingly light. Flavor caramel sweetness and honeyish. Slight apple tartness and tad bit of bitter finish. No yeasty flavor or spices that is present in many belgians. Also, no detection of the 10%abv. Overall, enjoyable, but lacks a bit of depth. nearbeer (1317), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 14, 2008 16 oz ceramic swingtop, bb 09/11/11. Mostly unclouded orange-copper, with a creamy half-inch of foam and a thick frosting of lace. Light aroma of honey, wood and alcohol. Flavors of earthy tea leaf, orange-cocoa liqueur, oak, beeswax and honeycomb. Light-medium body is soft, dry and a little fizzy. Seems like more earthy-citrus hop in this beer than typically found in Belgians. BeerEssential (91), Massachusetts, USA Aug 5, 2008 Pours a slightly cloudy golden colour with a while head that settles down to a very thin layer. Some lacing is left over, but not much. Strong spicey, honey-like aroma which is great. Thick mouthfeel with an honey-ish and alcoholic taste. Slight bitterness, but not hoppy. Typically Belgian, but in a very good way. I love the swing-top bottle too.
