Commercial Description:
St. Stan’s Porter is very robust, brewed with large amounts of roasted chocolate malt and generously hopped. Dark and heavy, this beer is extremely flavorful with a big “full mouth” feel.

Very roasted cocoa and espresso nose. Black as night with a very dark head. Somewhat malt astringent but still quite drinkable.

Enjoyed on tap while watching my brother and his band play on Saturday night. I had their IPA a beer earlier and it was pretty below average so I wasn’t too sure what to think about this. Thankfully, it was enjoyable. An aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate and a bit of coffee. Appearance was black with a nice tan head. Mouthfeel was solid. Flavors were coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malt. Nothing bad for sure, and suprisingly good. I’d drink it again for sure.

Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: Chocolate smell. Minimal roastiness in aftertaste. Good body. Well done.
