Commercial Description:
The 3MONTS beer : A wonderful return to nature, with its flavour of yesteryear, this is a beer that was drawn from the wooden metal-circled barrels to fill so many mugs in our Flanders bars! Its bitterness comes from our hop fields scattered throughout the region. Brewed by infusions, it is an old-fashioned rising beer made with strong and hearty Flemish hops. Fermented using top yeasts, like the barrel brewers of yore and clamped like bonderised barrels.

At first inspection, the bent staple retained cork created fear and confusion for me. Luckily the apparatus yielded to my forceful thumbs before I went looking for a screwdriver. Appearance is clear gold with a big white head. Aroma is dry and appley with just a hint of sour, but not much more. Taste is odd grapey, dry (mouth-drying, really) and carbonated to the point of being inseparable from its mouthfeel. Not sure what’s going on in this brew, but it’s kinda cool. Nice biscuity finish with slight warming alcohol. $6/25oz

Cloudy gold with lots of bubbles and a good, solid white head with wonderful retention and lacing. Aroma is crisp sour citrus and yeast with some spice. Medium palate. Flavour reflects the aroma with a surprisingly dry finish and a touch of alcohol warmth. Never had this style before, so have nothing to compare it to, but very pleasant.

75cl bottle from Habersham Liquors (Savannah, GA). Pours a orange-golden color with a thick, frothy, creamy white one to two finger head. Excellent head retention. Aroma is sweet and spicy with notes of orange and ripe citrus, fresh wild spices, grass, straw, slight notes of alcohol and maybe just a little honeysuckle. Fairly highly carbonated ale with flavors of fresh fruit, spice, wood and straw. A little bitterness on finish, but not unpleasant. Somewhat watery to medium-bodied mouthfeel. Almost seems as if the aroma emanating from the snifter is better than the flavor itself. . . . Overall, a very nice Biere de Garde.

Pours a crystal-clear pale gold with an eternal head and a bit of lacing. Aroma is boozy and spicy with notes of apricot & over-ripe peach. Flavour is also boozy; a very strong blonde ale with spicy notes. Carbonation is high, body is thin and the finish is fairly dry with stale hops. This beer has a lot of character, but it’s like that loud guy at the party that you’d rather avoid... it just doesn’t agree with me. Better than many other French beers that I’ve had, though.

Bottle from offy near the other place, Merseyside. Pours a deep golden Colour. Whoa ! what an amazing head ! Malty sweet hop aroma. Full bodied and warming. Some zingy malt and bitter hopiness. Nice fruit. Incredibly flavoursome and rich. Tres bien !

Bottle - This was a very nice looking pour, slightly golden amber, with a small but somewhat puffy head, and has that cloudy unfiltered appearance in the glass. Yeasty and peppery, with a lingering citrus acidity in the finish. Not bad.
