Apr 17, 2005 Sample courtesy of Pailhead. Pours copper with fluffy white head. Aroma is very yeasty with hints of fruit. Flavor just about the same, but very astringent. Highly carbonated. Agree with Pailhead in, not a fan of the style so far.

Mar 21, 2005 Bottle: Fruity and vinuous with some watered down kriekbier aromas in there too. Pours a hazy orange with a white head that has good retention. Light up front with light fruit, yeast, and a little acidity in the finish. Not bad, but I’m just not that big a fan of the style.

Mar 20, 2005 Bottle. Hazy amber color with lots of floaties. Decent white head with little lacing. Aroma is fruity and yeasty. Well carbonated. Medium bodied. Spicey, fruity and yeast flavors. Solid.

Mar 19, 2005 Smooth, dangerously drinkable biere de garde. Deep gold colour, huge lacing head. A "big" nose, full of apples, grassy hops and yeast. Full-bodied, sweet on entry, with a long, wonderfully dry finish. Syrupy mouthfeel. Almost wine-like in intensity, with some spice, hoppy grapefruit, and plenty of warming alcohol. (Bottle)

Mar 8, 2005 Golden color, with a large white, frothy head and lacing to match. Malty sweet aroma, with some doughy yeast, spicy, and grassy hop, very faint pear, and apple. Malty, grainy, fruity and lightly sweet with some herbal hopness. Full bodied with a very effervescent palate and winey mouthfeel. Very nice beer.

Mar 7, 2005 Pours an orange/gold, slightly cloudy with a nice white head. Very lively mouthfeel with a good fizz that really brings the spices in the flavor to life. Sweet bread smell in the malts with some yeast esters and a hint of orange.

Feb 23, 2005 Difficult to get through the strange set up with the cork. I ended up using a corkscrew. Pours a dark cloudy orange with a huge white head. The aroma is oranges with some bananas and grass. Maybe a hint of cinnamon. The taste is slightly sweet with some peaches and nutmeg. A full bready taste and some hints of apples. This is a fascinating version of the style.
