Commercial Description:
The 3MONTS beer : A wonderful return to nature, with its flavour of yesteryear, this is a beer that was drawn from the wooden metal-circled barrels to fill so many mugs in our Flanders bars! Its bitterness comes from our hop fields scattered throughout the region. Brewed by infusions, it is an old-fashioned rising beer made with strong and hearty Flemish hops. Fermented using top yeasts, like the barrel brewers of yore and clamped like bonderised barrels.

Pours bright yellow colorwith a frothing, foamy white head. The aroma was of leathery and corky. Flavor reminiscent of wood, alcohol, and was very maltily sweet. Finishes slightly bitter.

Crystal-clear light golden color; white frothy head. Unexceptional nose. Somewhat corny, though I doubt any corn is used in this brew. Some floral, spicy hops. Light, spicy flavor, but nothing exceptional. Also some floral hop and grassy flavors. Despite the lacluster nose & flavor, I really enjoy the dry mouthfeel and refreshing feeling after a drink.I was expecting more from this. I enjoyed the other biéres de gardes much more than this, though it was still decent. Additionally, this is very little to no indication of this beer’s alcoholic strength.

Corked Bottle: Poured a hazy glowing gold with a large white head. The aroma was full of complex spicey notes (cloves, coriander, maybe allspice??), some banana, and lots of hoppy mustiness. The flavour had a noticable alcohol component but was also quite spicey. Below this was some very restrained wheaty malts and, again, the prominent mustiness. I found this surprisingly bitter, and this combined with an initial heavy carbonation took some points away from the final score. As it warmed it took on a much more elegant and restrained character. Quite nice and probably best served at higher cellar temperatures.

The head on this beer was huge, took 5 minutes to calm. Nice dark gold color. Flavor was grassy and crisp. This beer has 8.5% alcohol, but it doesn´t seem like it. Not very sweet at all, A plus for me. I will drink this beer again.

750 ml bottle, Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Savannah, Ga. Pours a brilliant golden with a long lasting pillowy white head with excellent lacing. Aroma is slightly sour with a heavy Saaz hops accent and a bit of underlying alcohol (not too unlike American Malt Liquor hate to say). Flavor has grassy notes to it with a little bit of corn and a coating of alcohol to wash it all down. Mouthfeel is decent and thick. All in all, looks good, feels good but a bit dissapointing in the aroma and flavor department. If my eyes were closed I could have sworn this was a Malt Liquor.

Dry, yeasty, for some reason made me think of wheat rather than malt, and maybe just a bit of white wine. A tad more alcohol than I wanted in such a large bottle, but well hidden.

dark golden yellow in color with frothy thick white head that lasts well. white grape/chardonnay sweet aroma. flavor is dry and sweet, liqueur-like. white candi suger, slight musty yeast, malty grain alcohol flavor, and dry aftertaste. almost an imperial pils?
