Commercial Description:
The 3MONTS beer : A wonderful return to nature, with its flavour of yesteryear, this is a beer that was drawn from the wooden metal-circled barrels to fill so many mugs in our Flanders bars! Its bitterness comes from our hop fields scattered throughout the region. Brewed by infusions, it is an old-fashioned rising beer made with strong and hearty Flemish hops. Fermented using top yeasts, like the barrel brewers of yore and clamped like bonderised barrels.

750ml bottle from GBBF, drunk 19th Nov 08. Malty lager aroma, grainy, superb malt taste, great body and a dry finish. A really drinkable beer. Tastes about 2% less strong than it actually is too! It took me a long time to get hold of this and was great for it to live up to expectations! Straw coloured, large white head that subsides. So much better than the processed lagers that dominate our bars.

75 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a huge white head. Mild malt aroma with a light butterish accent. Sweet caramel malty flavoured with a light bitterness before the finish. Smooth, light sweet and easy with a good hops/malt balance. Ends dry and hoppy.

When i fought to open the bottle, and finally got the cork out, the musty smell of fermenting silage almost made me give up on it. But after a few tastes, I kinda warmed up to it. Definitely has a fruity after tone, I would say more lemon than some previous posts saying apple. All in all, it hides the beefy alcohol quite well with a hoppy dry flavor. I wouldnt pay an arm and a leg for it, but the beer had decent balance for such high alcohol content. Not bad.

750ml bottle in Paris, Nov. 2006. Average golden color. Slight head. Malt aroma, dry and grassy, rather dry, hoppy flavor, a touch of sweetness, alcohol warmth. A touch of citrus as well as a strong aroma and flavor of apples. Very fruity, rather spicy as well. It has high carbonation, but a medium body. The alcohol is there, but nothing like you expect in an 8.5% brew. It masks it well. The sweetness is really very well under control. Very nice, understated, dry, strong finish. Malt in there too. A great beer.

Bottle. Light malt note of straw, moderate hops and yeast of lemon and musty basement with white wine and alcohol in the background. Head is small, fizzy, white with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy gold, with large wispy chunks which dissolve after while. Flavor starts lightly sweet, moderately acidic and sour, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light, watery and has a lively carbonation. It finishes lightly alcoholic. A fruity beer with noticable Belgian attributes

The cork is the original pain the ass to remove with silly mettal holder.Nicer drinking this on French soil than previously in UK . Its such a lagery ’de garde . Like a german Helles with Belgian hops and a woody suggestion in the finish. Its weird to think its over 8 % in this. Wen’t down smooth.
