spporras (260), Finland Sep 21, 2006 (Draught@Vastarannan Kiiski, Helsinki) “Fishing Rod Pale Ale” has fruity (citrus) and hoppy aroma. Yellow brown colour, hazy and small to average size, very slightly lasting head with good lacing. Moderately bitter, fruity and malty flavour of long duration. Medium-bodied and softly carbonated palate. Very tasty quality bitter from Downtown Brewery Ltd. 06/09/06 sayravai (3181), Helsinki, Finland Jul 17, 2006 (Draught@Hilpeä Hauki, Helsinki) Very hazy brown-amber color with a small but lacy head. Berryish, somewhat Orvaly-hoppy aroma. Flowery-aromatic-hoppy, slightly sweet, berryish-malty flavor with smoky-ashy hints. Light to medium-bodied, refreshing palate with smooth carbonation. Orval has clearly been the inspiration in this brew (which is nice ;). It can’t quite compete with it in intensity and hop character - but, in any case, Fishing Rod Ale is a quite nice and refreshing brew. oh6gdx (6331), Vaasa, Finland Apr 23, 2006 Draught@HBF2006, the beer was going for sale on Saturday evening, about 6 hours before end of the festival... It’s now sold at "Kalaravintolat"-pubchain. So about the beer, it’s copper coloured, with creamy white head. Fruity aroma with hoppy hints. Flavour is caramellish smooth malts with very soft and smooth hoppy hints. Very wellbalanced fruitish hoppy finish. The fruity hoppiness stays long in the the semi-dry aftertaste. One of the best Stadin Panimo beers so far.
