heemer77 (3634), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 8, 2007 The body is a fairly dark gold with a hint of brown. This is much lighter colored than any other beer I have seen in the style. There is a thin trace of a white head on top. The aroma has toffee. There is also some dank cellar and old leather smells. In a pleasant way. The taste is lightly roasted peanuts with some tea and toffee. The body is thin and has low carbonation. A nicely done dunkel.
raymondwave (778), Finland Aug 7, 2008 Bottle 0,33 l as Ekenäs Dark Lager. Dark amber/copper, bubbly small head. Nose is fresh (hoppy?), syrup. Flavor is vienna-style syrup/caramel malty, sourish, bitter in a way I can’t say if it’s hops or roast. Propably both. Metallic when cold, nasty sour bitter when warm. Thinnish body, soft carb. Mixed bag, yet there’s something intriguing which calls for more. Unique.. punainen6 (64), Finland Jul 17, 2008 Bottle, dark amber look with frothy head. Smell has roasted malts, toffee and some fruits. Taste is easily approachable, not too thick nor thin. Finishes off nice and bitter with characteristics of wood and malts. ekstedt (1785), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 8, 2008 Sampled at the RBESG08 grand tasting. Clear amber, medium off-white head. Bland caramelly malt aroma, abit too sweet. austone (305), Turku; Pori, Finland Apr 21, 2008 Dark copper with foamy white head. Nose is roasted, a bit buttery and herbal. Roasted malty flavor with dry fruits and herbal hops. Nicely hopped and dry, lingering (again) herbal finish. Almost medium bodied, average carbonation. Nice spicy dunkel, one of the best Stallhagens so far! gunnfryd (2718), Kristiansand, Norway Feb 21, 2008 Bottle. Amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is weak malt, sweetness. Flavour is sweet, fruit, malt, hop. Thin beer.
