pilsnerrogge (1554), Finspång, Sweden Mar 31, 2008 Bottled: Dark brown (almost black) with a minimal head. Cocoa and toffee on the nose. Thick and smooth mouth feel. Slightly roasted flavour with notes of chocolate, coffee and black currants. The alcohol gives it a somewhat harsh finish.

Dark brown colour with low bubbly head. Aroma from rye bread, caramel, toast malts. Flavour is very rich - bit tarry, with toast malts, coffee, chocolate, licorice and pepper. Light mouthfeel, and not so heavily malty like the average dunkler bock. A very tasty, well balanced beer. Marsiblursi (1262), Göteborg, Sweden May 2, 2008 (Bottle) Pours very dark brown to black with a small light brown head. The aroma is of medium roasted and light burned malt with tones of coffee, roasted/caramelized nuts, dark chocolate and dark juicy rye bread. Undertones of salt/sweet liquorice, soy, dark berries and maybe a whisper of smoke and white pepper. The flavour is medium roasted with a mild tar tone alongside notes of coffee, chocolate, salt/sweet liquorice, dark bread, soy and light smoke. Medium sweet and light to medium bitter. The mouthfeel is soft carbonated, light oily and quite round. Sweet aftertaste of liquorice/sal ammoniac, brown sugar, chocolate, bread and coffee. Medium bodied. This was a nice surprise. I really liked this one. KnutAlbert (2122), Oslo, Norway Apr 28, 2008 Bottle.
Strong malty flavour, some roasted corn, salty liquorice. Sweet finish. Somewhat like a Baltic porter, could have done with some more hops. Ingevara (458), Hindås, Sweden Apr 15, 2008 Very dark brown, almost black. No head, just a little foam that quickly disappears. Carbonation is low, aroma strong and intense with lots of smooky flavors from fire-boiled coffee and sunheated tar-treated jetties. Apart from that it is a really wintery brew, suitable for heavy fatty food or desserts rather than eggs and fish. Or something to enjoy on its own. Papsoe (9663), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 14, 2008 (Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of joergen. Hazy, dark brown with a small, rough, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and Danish rye bread. Solid body with plenty of roasted malt and sweetish Danish rye. The finish is dry. Quite nice. 040408
