Bottle brown, 330 ml
Appearance: Pours amber red, opaque but lively in terms of colour essence. Carbonation of the body is quite lively and intensive. Head is initially medium, decreasing to small and lasting till the end of the beer being very firm what manifests itself also in a nice lacing. The head colour is rose white and head is frothy in texture. Body is very clear without any sediments.
Aroma: Nice chalky nose with some hints of red fruits, red grapes, red currant, wildbeeries, notes of strawbeeries and other red fruits. Very juicy and fresh. Notes of herbal hops in nose with some gentle fruity - juicy background. Very well balanced and inviting, clean aroma denoting good quality ingredients and noble beer style. Graphite and gentle notes of alcohol but very well balanced as for its 6%.
Flavour: Very nice, chewy, juicy Vienna malt, prominent full taste, sweet juicy of red fruit origin on one hand and spicy, bitter with herbal hoppy nose on the other hand. Very well balanced taste with nice domination of wild berries and other forest fruits accents of natural origin. Probably high extract resulting in one of the best Vienna I’ve ever had. High hoppy content and well covered alcohol. Pronounced graint taste in the aftertaste and hoppy herbal - spicy nose of those aromas are livened by the gentle alcoholic warmth. Finish duration is long.
Palate: Body is medium, texture is wattery, carboantion on palate is soft to medium, finish feel is mineral and slightly astringent in the gentle not disturbing alcoholic warmth.
chilangoglobal (97), Wagerningen, Netherlands Jul 19, 2008 also called Red Drak, but in the Chzeck menu appears like Cerveny Drak, red body and scarce foam. taste is nothing special, bit roasted barely and hops, bit watery, smell is too much alcoholic Skinnyviking (2720), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 23, 2008 Bottle. Small but lasting off-white head. Hazy brown reddish body. Weak barley malt aroma. Heavily carbonated berries hops flavor with a long sweet aftertaste. MartinT (4373), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 8, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Artificial fruitiness splashes the frail caramel maltiness in this thin and laughable Polotmavé.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Fleeting foam struggles to remain atop the reddish amber.
-Vaguely supporting hops rise with each sip.
-That Kool-Aid fruitiness has no place in a Czech lager and points towards sugar sources which are far from the barley malt they should be using.
-Wet feet mar the aroma.
