On top of a light chocolate malt base there’s a fairly strong tart berry element, with butterscotch and acidic roast malt in the finish. As the carbonation dies down the tart berry tapers away but overall this seems too fruity and estery.

Bottle brown, 500 ml
Middle class baltic porter, dark brown body, berry, roasty and bready aroma while the flavour is very butterscotch and toffie like, roasted, a lot of smoke as well, some strange soda carbonation but thick and medium to full bodied. Jukkabro (3020), Tampere, Finland
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2008 Near black colored with red hints, big light brown head. Excellent aroma with chocolate dominating, licorice, caramel, some biting hoppiness also present, even some vinous berry tones come up. Medium bodied. Flavor is also fine with this same chocolate dominating, still too much sour berries here. Mild roastiness also in flavor with obvious carbonation. Aftertaste lasts with sourness and chocolate. I like to be in Poland! hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Bottle and label says Staropolski Porter. Large frothy head that mostly diminished with a fair amount of lacing, mostly opaque, no visible carbonation, and a dark brown hue with a ruby tint. Nose was malty, burnt, chocolate, roasty, caramel, and some toffee notes. Flavor was malty, chocolate, caramel, burnt and roasty tasting. Mouthfeel was slightly tingly. Medium body. Very quaffable and a beer that I would definitely drink again if it comes my way. Worthy of a try IMO. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2007 Bottled as Staropolskie Porter. This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy fine to medium sized brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a semi-opaque typically carbonated dark red brown colored body. The aroma was malty brown malt and roasted malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of roasted malt sweet mildly vinous and dark malt. A wonderful best in class brew. Ughsmash (4027), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2007 Bottled as Staropolskie Porter. Poured a clear, deep garnet-tinted brown with an explosive cap of creamy beige head.. I’m talkin’ 8 to 1 head ratio on the initial pour!.. settles down to a healthy pool with a mind of its own and you drink. The aroma picked up an odd array of sweet sugars... mildly sour lactic notes (I had it pegged as infected until I took a sip.. and the sourness didn’t translate in the ugly way it may with infection) on top of burnt dark chocolate, anise, and some underlying boozy notes.. warmed up to it after a while. The flavor rode lactic sourness and burnt semi-sweet chocolate into the middle of the mouth, where sticky caramel and toffee notes emerge along with a mild herbal bitterness.. sweet molasses sugars and anise accent the sweet, sour, and somewhat boozy finish.. stuck in there for a moderate-length finish. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation.. felt OK. A nice warm porter that I would revisit. Furseth (1328), Kungälv, Sweden

Aroma of Malts,Dark chocolate, nice bitternes mixed with this malt and ChocolateFlavor is almost the same, medium body, medium sweet/Bitter finish. This was surprising good! Cornfield (4938), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2007 Updated: Apr 4, 2007Drinking from a bottle of Staropolskie Porter Beer: Sturdy stuff here. A HUGE rocky tan head crushes strong fumes from a deep dark brown body. Roasted malt, burnt dark caramel, old raisins, chocolate, smoke, aniseed, and a teensy whiff of alcohol fill the nose. Toffee, too. The flavor’s a chewy amalgamation of tastes reflected from the aroma with some brown spices and alcohol thrown in for snicks. Over all, a delightful Baltic Porter, what you want for a gateway beer for your BMC acquaintances. Pairs well with wasabi peas.
