Commercial Description:
A dark lager with an exceptionally fine taste which is talked about with recognition and admiration. Staropramen Dark is exceptional for its calming, full-bodied, sweetish caramel taste with gentle, hopsy bitterness. It is a taste you will never forget.

Bottle. Dark colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt. Flavour of roasted malt and caramel with a bitter finish.

This has been a my favourite of czech dunkel’s for quite some time. I think it was one of the first dunkel’s I’ve had. Nicely balanced, goes well by itself or with food. Roasted, malty and somewhat sweet, but not overly sweet.

Bottle. "It is a taste you will never forget" Yes, I am afraid the commercial description is right.

On tap at Potrafina Husa, Josefov, Prague, 300ml, pasteurised. Black with Ruby hue, tan head. Heavy licorice and fruity beer but rather too sweet for me, quite still for Staropramen and better for it.

Dark brown coloured, small off white head. Sweet malty caramel like aroma. Most of the flavour profile is about caramel. Notes of bitterness in the finish.

Aroma gives roasted malts with quite a bit of caramel. Taste is similar with a bit of sweetness, but reasonably balanced.
