Commercial Description:
A dark lager with an exceptionally fine taste which is talked about with recognition and admiration. Staropramen Dark is exceptional for its calming, full-bodied, sweetish caramel taste with gentle, hopsy bitterness. It is a taste you will never forget.

Very dark brown color. Some head but it does not keep. Nice yeasty fresh aroma. I like how it feels in my mouth. Slightly bitter. Nothing fancy but a nice beer. I like the bottle (green glass, black/gold label).

(Draught at Atmosphere Bar, Prague) Dark brown, almost black with a thin white diminishing head. Sweet, malty, sugary nose. Sweet caramel flavour with hints of liquorice and toffee. Light to medium bodied.

(Bottle 50 cl) With typical German flair for pretty names this is renamed "Staropramen - das Prager Schwarzbier" at 4,6% ABV. Very classical dark lager with a reddish tint. Limited head and a lightly smoked edge from the dark malts. Soft with a limited bitterness. Pleasant and easy to drink. I’ve also had this named "Staropramen Cernı" and "Staropranen Dark Prague Beer" at 4,4% ABV. 210499/190502/180904

Bottled. According to the label, this beer only holds 4,4% alc. Oh well. It is a lovely dark amber with a nice head. It smells and tastes like liquorice. Really intense, black liquorice. -Like the pastilles, that some men carry around with them. Funny taste. But definitely not bad.

Lager nose with a little sour vegetable aroma, deep brown, fluffy biege head. Light toasted malt with some caramel and oak flavors. Dry malty end with a hint of tobacco. Thin body, OK balance, but off taste overall. Not bad, not good.

Bottle: Dark brown with hints of red. Small head. Sweet honey nose. Malt and molasses taste, bodyless and flat - damn why did buy two of those while we only bought one of the better Garnet.
