Commercial Description:
A dark lager with an exceptionally fine taste which is talked about with recognition and admiration. Staropramen Dark is exceptional for its calming, full-bodied, sweetish caramel taste with gentle, hopsy bitterness. It is a taste you will never forget.

Deep dark coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, caramel and a bit of cardboard. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive roasted malts and pit fruit tastes come through with some metal and off-tastes noticeable. Aftertaste shows some caramel and toffee sweetness along with a light bitterness. Overall, a decent beer - definitely good to try here in Praha. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Tesco in Praha 1, Ceska Republica in March 2007.

Old rating: Rather okay dunkel with some light malty, coffee-notes. A bit thin on the palate but still decent enough to be drinkable. Some nice roasted notes and very typical for the style, but boring...

Dark ruby colored beer with a small delicious tan head. Moderated aroma of roasted grains, light sourish yeast. Medium bodied beer with fine roasted malt in the flavor. Coffee, caramel, toffee with some light fruity tastes. Fine roasted aftertaste. Typical drinkable czech dunkel.

330 ml bottle. Finland. Dark brown colour with beige head. Roasted aroma and roasted and coffee flavour. Coffee flavour was not bad although I do not like coffee. Quite enjoyable dark lager.

Bottle @ BA: Well rounded and full bodied, within style. Light smokey and soft malt base. Nice.
