Commercial Description:
A dark lager with an exceptionally fine taste which is talked about with recognition and admiration. Staropramen Dark is exceptional for its calming, full-bodied, sweetish caramel taste with gentle, hopsy bitterness. It is a taste you will never forget.

bottle, 33cl, DSB. Sugar, sunburned caramel, bitter aftertaste that is a little odd/harsh. Was it not for the aftertaste this would be a good brew.

Draft in Karlovy Vary: large rocky head gently nutty nose. Body is Med - some caramelly bits but a tad on the watery side. Oily film of a head that disperses quicly and leaves only thick quaff rings. View is a light brown in the .5L glass. A good bit of light shines thru. It was windy by the Tepla river so the nose was hard to read. Great with goulash.

[bottle] Very malty and toasty aroma with some Saaz hops. Very dark reddish brown with a dense beige cover. Malty and toasty flavour with liquorice and mocha accents. Lightly sweet in balance with light bitterness. Weak but quite quaffable. Light body, moderate carbonation, nutty and sherry-like finish.

Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is a bit roasted and malty with notes of coffee beans and liquorice. A bit stale. Flavour is a bit roasted with notes of liquorice and somewhat sour notes of coffee. Not much bitterness. Quite boring to drink.

Bottle 500ml, different than the one in the picture, the new one, green.
Head small, off-white with the light brown tan, colour of the body is exellent, very dark amber, carbonation is visually mild, aroma of malt (a bit toasted) and caramel, flavour: nice, hoppy, bitter, flowery accent, smoke, bitterness, full bodied, the previously tasted Krusovice Shwarzbier tasted better for me, but still this one being a dunkel is decent among many. Less imposing and a bit less essential in its body while tasted but perfectly representing its style.
