Commercial Description:
Braník is a typical Czech beer with a very refreshing taste, a natural "bite" and pure hopsy aroma. Braník Brewery was founded by a group of brewmasters from small historical breweries in 1899 under the name "Corporate Brewery of Prague Brewmasters".

Smooth, drinkable, flavorful at a great price! The perfect beer taste! It has a bad reputation in the Czech Republic since it is popular with the homeless but it is really excellent. A hidden gem. The company is trying to improve the beer’s image. About two years ago they changed the logo and graphics to make it look classier. It is now made by Staropramen at the Smichov brewery as they closed down the Branik brewery this year.

Draught at Branicky Sklipek in Prague.
Served in a small 30 cl or a big 50 cl glass (by chice).
Light yellow color, small white head. Not much scent, but might be due to the extremely smokey environment. Big body, clear diacetyl/butterscotch flavor. Medium bitterness. Very refreshing, but not a lot of taste other than the butterscotch.

Bottle from the Swedish government owned "Systembolaget". February 18, 2006.
The version I tried, sold in Sweden, has 5.0% ABV.
Light golden color, lasting white head. Malty scent and taste. Low bitterness.

Rerate as "Branik Svetle 10 degree"
(Draught in Prague on June 24, 2008)
Clear golden color, fluffy creamy white head. Fruity malty crisp sweet scent. Sweet malty and a tad butterscotch taste. Very crisp, nice and refreshing. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Though nice afterbitterness. Some apples.

GOlden standard-lager color, but the aroma is much greater. It is not as dry as most czech beers, has a well balanced sweetness with lots of malt in the palate. A nice beer that I could drink a lot of.

Golden color. Slight hoppy aroma and flavor. Just a hint of glue and fresh grass. Lovely light lager. Clean, soft but tasty.

Pale golden colour. Some fruity aroma, might be from banana. Also from hops. Has a strong metalic taste and has a lasting bitter aftertaste.

(tap at small branikplace, Praha) A very clear, lightly golden beer with thick, white foam. It has a general lager-aroma with some diacetyle. The palate is good but the taste is a bit light. It has alnost no bitterness and is actually a bit salty.

The points that this brew gets comes more from the atmosphere in which I enjoyed it: very local house in Prague, dropped the equivelant of a couple nickels on the counter and got my half liter. . . bubbly head on a clear light golden body. Light saaz type hop aroma with a good deal of floral aromatics. Loads of straw and grass flavours - the lingering hops makes this one drinkable for me. . .

The quality is unbelievable for such a low price. Very drinkable, with decent hop flavor.
