Commercial Description:
Staropramen Garnet is a unique lager that fully honours the tradition of our brewery. In the brewing process, which is based on the original recipe from 1884, we mix pale and specialty malts in the so-called "sprinkling" process. This gives the lager its typical garnet colour, gently bitter taste and full-bodied hopsy aroma

Bottled. Pours a clear redish amber, with a frothy white head. Aroma is sweet, dusty malts, some grains and hops. Taste is fruity, fresh, with some malty sweetnes. Short sweet aftertaste.

0.5 L bottle, bbe March 2006. Clear; copper colour, very little pearling, solid off-white head, not very stable. The aroma is bitter, even slightly rancid, and sweetish (caramel), with a clear metal presence and a solvent-like (ether) note. Taste: sweetish (caramel) and round, with gentle bitterness that appears somewhere in the middle and lasts into a very long aftertaste. Metal is again present, as well as a bit of apricot. Good, filling mouthfeel.

Mostly lasting head, nice amber colour, moderat week aroma, OK flavour. Rerated as 6-3-6-3-11 june-11 2006 without knowing previus rating. So my tasting powers are still intact.

Amber colour, bubbly lasting head, pleasant smell. Smooth, vaguely any bitterness, drinks well. Never drunk a Vienna before and I’m gonna change it.

On draught at the brewery restaurant in Prague: Deep amber colour, firm, long lasting head, big aromatic nose: fruity - honey - malts and a tinge of hops, sweetish-malty taste, short sweet-bitter aftertaste. The best one in this pub.......

Amber colour. White foamy head. This one is a disappointment. I´ve expected more from this Czech brew. It´s hard to sense the aroma. Just a grassy feel. Just a little more malt in tast from the Staropramen lager.

On tap at Staropramen Brewery, Prague. Deep amber color with frothy head and good lacing. Hoppy nose but flavors of caramel, malts, and bread. A nice change from pilsners.

Bottled (BB 01/2006)
Amber color, small off-white head. Grassy hoppy aroma with toffee notes. Caramelly sweetish, malty with average hoppy bitterness in the finish. A classic example of vienna style.
