Commercial Description:
Staropramen Garnet is a unique lager that fully honours the tradition of our brewery. In the brewing process, which is based on the original recipe from 1884, we mix pale and specialty malts in the so-called "sprinkling" process. This gives the lager its typical garnet colour, gently bitter taste and full-bodied hopsy aroma

Cheap bottle from Prague Tesco. Pleasant reddish-amber colour. Quite dry with a sweetish malty awareness and a smudgy hop bitterness in the finish. Unremarkable but quite drinkable.

Tap, opposite Ferdinand brewpub. Chilled pine nose with some fart, sulphur and metal. Dark gold (’semi-dark’) and lagery. Clean, crisp Saazy lemon notes and a smear of butter. Freshbread malty and hoppier as it warms.

Red-golden with a weak head. The aroma is hoppy and the flavour is rather full considering the style. It has notes of flower, honey and a nice sweetness and an Ok bitterness. Quite OK.

[Sampled in 2003.] Not many notes left, but some bitterness was detected in this nice vienna.

Bottle, 4.6%, october 07. Clear, copper-golden color with a medium white, bubbly compact head. Aroma is very clean with some fruity/cardboard notes. Tastes very clean and neutral, bittersweet. Some methallic hops and light fruity notes. Medium mouthfeel, a bit astringent with a dry finnish. Nice, drinkable slightly bitter amber lager.

Aroma: summer drunkenness...acrid hops, some caramel malt. Pissy corn-like tones.
Appearance: clear amber w/ white bubbly head.
Flavour: semidry, VERY mild...porridge. What the hell is this? Hoppy aftertaste.
Palate: not bad, but very standard.
