Commercial Description:
Staropramen Garnet is a unique lager that fully honours the tradition of our brewery. In the brewing process, which is based on the original recipe from 1884, we mix pale and specialty malts in the so-called "sprinkling" process. This gives the lager its typical garnet colour, gently bitter taste and full-bodied hopsy aroma

Aroma: summer drunkenness...acrid hops, some caramel malt. Pissy corn-like tones.
Appearance: clear amber w/ white bubbly head.
Flavour: semidry, VERY mild...porridge. What the hell is this? Hoppy aftertaste.
Palate: not bad, but very standard.

This is among the worst beers I ever tried... It’s a coloured lager beer without taste. Yet I sell about 11 000 liters per year of this son of a b****... among the rest of the 26 beers on tap.

Bottle. Huge fizzy white head that mostly lasted. Clear sparkling body with a pale yellow colour. Good lacework. Aroma of light floral notes and some fresh grass. Hint of caramel and somewhat dusty grain with a little bit of cardboard feel to it. Light bodied with an average carbonation and light dry texture. Well balanced flavour between the bitter and sweet. Light dry and somewhat bitter finish.

Bottle, 33 cl. Deep clear golden to amber, small off-white head. Strange malt aroma, a bit acidic with a hint of apples, some roastiness. Medium bodied and smooth, lively carbonation. Moderately bitter finish.

Bottled. Golden to copper body with a white head. Malty nose with fruityness, dried fruits, tobacco and tea. Caramel, malt and some fruity hop in the flavor. Smooth, medium body, and a finish with tea, tobacco and some dried fruits. The initial flavor is a bit boring, else it is a nice one. (070404)
