Like most Czech Pilsner this is a more complex, and slightly sweeter brew than your traditional European lager. Ignore the beardy ale heads comparing this to Miller because of its "piss yellow" colour - lager is yellow, ale is not. Sometimes an ale is good, sometimes a crisp, yet flavourful authentic Bohemian Pilsner just hits the spot. Compared to its rival, Pilsner Urqell, this is not quit as biscuity and dry but. Bottles are OK, but this beer really shines on draught where a big, cold pint or larger glass provides a satisfying, refreshing drink.

Another wonderful beer from Staropramen, it is probably the tastiest one that I have ever had. As far as I am concerned, it turned out that in this case a Lager glass is convenient as well for use.

I think everyone missed the boat on this one. To me this is almost perfect balance of sweet malts and bitter skunky hops. Floral on the nose. This beer pours a dark gold with an ample head. Nice midpalate--bitter hops doing battel with delicous sweet bread and under-ripe bannas. Finish is gorgeous almost dessert like pastry flavors. I had this from the bottle; it would probably rip my face on tap!

This is one of the reasons why I like the Czech Republic. It doesn't lose flavor or have a watered down taste like the American Standard beers.

Bottled. Best before 27 Feb 2007.Malty scent and taste. Good, balanced carbonation. Clean, astringent, refreshing finish. For US$5.99/ 6 pack, we have a gem!
