A poor cereally thin lager is served with nitrogen gas, obviously a gimmick introduced by Bass, the new owners, to attempt to sell it as a "British" style beer. I'm not sure I've tasted anything this bad in Britain yet! Thick, syrupy yet thin and cereally. Horrible. Darker colour - like bourben biscuits, and no head or lacing. Slight brown sugar aroma. Smooth and intense - like liqueur, but not a pleasant taste - metallic with a lengthy, tart bitterness. No Balance, just incessantly harsh and overpoweringly sweet. mwesth (279), Skovlunde, Denmark

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Sep 30, 2003 From the Can. Nice look with a creamy, Guiness-like, head. But the taste! Very watery, and without flavour. I guess, the brewers should stick to brewing Pilsener. Frank (1066), Chicago, Illinois, USA

A nice, creamy, white head settles on top. Despite looking like a bitter, the nose is almost pilsner-esque (albeit much milder) with a good dose of grassy hops. Very mild flavor with just a touch of hops in the finish. Milky mouthfeel with almost non-existent carbonation. Not my favorite Czech beer. Sort of watered-down pils crossed with a watered-down bitter. Ungstrup (15235), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2003 The aroma is creamy, slightly sweet, and with notes of straw. The color is amber and it has a fine head. The flavor is very flowery, sweet malty, and rather hoppy though without being bitter. It ends on a slight prickling bitterness. A very smooth beer due to the nitrogen. I like the combination of English ale and Czech Pilsener. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark
