legion242 (1520), Richardson, Texas, USA Mar 4, 2008 What struck me most about this beer was the wonderful palate. It was just silky smooth and a joy to have in the mouth.
Goodgrief (1042), Middletown, Delaware, USA Aug 31, 2008 Dark pour, mild roasty aroma. Decent attempt at a dry stout. Moderate level of sweetness and an ok mouthfeel. Chocolate and oats were noticeable behind the roast. Nothing really mind-blowing about this. It irks me when brewers put mediocre beers of a "non-big beer" style into bombers, though. Why? drjay44 (160), Colorado, USA Aug 16, 2008 22oz. bottle. Pours large, rapidly disappearing head, lovely blackish brown color, pleasant molasses and chocolate nose, sweet with some early hops, then molasses and chocolate again, finishing slightly bitter. Light in the mouth, and somewhat thin oveall. ericandersnavy (145), denton, Texas, USA Jul 20, 2008 bottle thanks to metzlers in denton tx. poured a black with a chocolate brown head . aroma was nice with chocolate, fruit, and some dark roasts. flavor was a little on the weak side with chocolate, oats, and malt. seemed to roll off my tongue a bit on the oily side with low-med carbonation. not to bad at all. would try again. even my girlfriend said it wasnt to bad. Retorp (2157), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 Courtesy of Ibrew20r3. Thanks, Dave. The aroma starts tart and holds dark fruit, burnt/roasted malt and some surprisingly noticeable alcohol. The body is deep black and holds a thin, receding, tan head. Very sweet fore with chocolate, mild to medium roasted notes, a bit of bitter crushed aspirin and some mild cola notes. On the thin side. AmEricanbrew (1002), Swamp Shreveport, Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Jun 24, 2008 Black with a frothy tan head. Nice malted chocolate nutty aroma. Smooth, slick mouthfeel. Decent flavors of lightly sweet cocoa with bitter blackened malts. Has a dry finish with black malt flavors. Not too bad.
