Commercial Description:
The Colorado Kölsch is a derivative of German Kölschs, which were created in response to the popular lager-based Pilsners being produced in the Czech Republic in the 1840s. That means it’s a light crisp ale with a hint of sweetness. And very refreshing

On tap at the Steamworks Brew Pub. Poured a lighter and clear yellow color with a small sized white head. Aromas of grains with some spiciness. Tastes of the same with a lighter sweetness.

Bottle: Poured a golden yellow with a light head. The aroma was sweet malts and a touch of bitterness. The flavor was light, watery, malty, sweet, and a touch of spice. Overall, just OK.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Golden yellow with a small, foamy, white head. Okay head retention. Aroma: Light nose. Grainy with a hint of spicy hops. Flavor: The graininess appears again with notes of soap and crackers. Mild hop bitterness. A bit watery in my mind. Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel and a medium-short, slightly bitter finish. Overall: Not a bad thirst quencher but not worth seeking out by any means.

On tap at a local establishment for $3. Clear golden yellow, slight head. Smells liek a lager and not much else. The taste is a crisp lager-like flavor with a fruity finish. I could easily drink more than one of these at a time but then I can drink more than one of almost any beer. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 09-17-2009 03:22:24

This is my second beer form Steamworks. It poured a blonde with small head that dissapated. It is an uncomplicated Kolsch beer. Thin body with a sweetness and malt flavors. It is refreshing but nothing special.

DMSed aroma of green beans and peas. Milky yellow with a thin vanishing head. Lemony malt flavor, DMS still evident. A bit of green olive is lieft on the palate, which isn’t unwelcome. Flawed.

(bottle from B&B Liquor in Colorado Springs). Clear golden color. Spare white head. Light grainy aroma with very light lemon. Light grain, lemon, and yeast flavors. Short duration. Smooth finish. Soft to moderate carbonation. Spare lacing.
