rlgk (3028), Motala, Sweden Oct 4, 2007 Rating numer 2500! (Stockholm Beer Festival 2007) Bottle. Somewhat hazy orange/golden color, small head. Truly hoppy aroma, grapefruit, grass and metallic notes. Flavor brings hops, hops and hops. grapefruit, hops, grass, hops, citric notes, hops. Huge bitterness, still the beer is balanced. And what was that in the finish? Hops? Probably yes.... Very good beer!
DrHomolka (598), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bomber. Best before October. Pours a dark orange/firey red color with a nice thick poofy off-white head with great lace and retention. This beer looks pretty. Great aroma as well. Ripe, tropical fruits, pine and vanilla, kiwi and melon. Just a beautiful blast of Simcoe, a hop I am partial to. Just a really nice fresh hop aroma, intensity is not huge but I bet if this were super fresh (I’m assuming this is a couple months old) it would be amazing. Taste is not quite as great. Smooth, lowly bitter (for the style), hoppy/watery flavor. Fruity and tropical though I would like a bit more hop bitterness and a touch more flavor to come through. Not overly sweet, though not exactly dry either. Medium bodied. If this just had a more hop flavor it could have been a contender. Man_vs_City (18), Redmond, Washington, USA Sep 19, 2008 Bomber bought in Denver. Great balance between bitterness of the hops and richness of the imperial IPA malt flavors. acrdz (4362), Boulder, Colorado, USA Sep 10, 2008 22oz bottle. Filtered copper with a sticky tan head, thick lacing, sticky cobwebs left on the glass. Syrupy cedar and pine sap hop notes in the nose, peppery and spicy honey as well. Fusel notes shine through when warmer. Moderately thick, mildly peppery with a honey-centric piney hop flavor, syrupy and smooth at once but then peppery and prickly the next. Nice enough double IPA, something different, but it’s not wowing me. thejoeshow (130), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Sep 2, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear rich golden color with a big yellow tinged head that has great retention and excellent lacing. First off...the glass is on the other side of my desk and I can smell it from here. Nose is a very nice bouquet of citrus aromas that have a slight pine back to them. Very pungent but at the same time very smooth. The flavor is very nice. It has a good caramel maltiness to it that is not too over shadowed by the huge hop presence. The citrus hops really show through in this beer. This is one of the smoothest IIPA’s I have ever had. That’s a huge problem seeing as it ranks in at 9% ABV. No wonder it’s also know as "Con-fucked-or". These things go down way too easy. swoopjones (1173), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 22, 2008 bottle. Trade with tytoanderso. Pours a robust deep dark orange . Nice floral citrusy hop aroma. Taste is weel balanced with the malts but the hops make theier presence felt. Nice drinking not too harsh & well done
