VitaminR (259), Colorado, USA Jul 19, 2008 Rich malty nose, smells like fresh sweet wort, caramel and nutmeg hints. Brownish red, hints of orange, and a soapy medium head. Toasty caramel syrup sweetness, mild bitterness. Medium carbonation, slightly thin body, really rich and malty finish. Nice all around beer, maltiness really shines.
RollinHard (527), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Jul 30, 2008 Pours dark red-brown with a light tan head. Aroma is oddly vegetal...steamed broccoli, bad brie cheese, sweat, maybe some bread. Tastes of rotten cherries, soap, with a wood astringency sort of character that almost approaches a breadlike flavor. Finishes bitter and toasty, kinda sticks on the throat too much for the style. Oh wait, it’s not really an "Irish" red ale I guess. Fairly full bodied for the style, and high in carbonation. This was surprisingly bad! How’d an amber ale get so messed up? At least I can sip this real quickly. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jul 9, 2008 Bomber I got in Dallas. Shared with bikesandbeer and my gf cyn. Pours dark red with a tan ring. Nose is a dead maltiness. Taste is slightly amber with a lingering sweetness. This isn’t horrible but its not great either. hopdog (4525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2008 22oz bottle acquired in trade with lb4lb (thanks!). Poured a deeper amberish / copper color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee with some citrus peels. Tastes of caramel, toffee, citrus, and toasted malts. rustychiles (418), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 20, 2008 Draft
Brownish Red in color with a small white head. aroma of caramel, malt. Flavor is sweet, malty, caramel, a little bit of hops. This is a sweet watery beer, and not bad but really not all that great either.
