JesseM (377), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Jun 17, 2008 Updated: Jun 30, 2008710ml ’Tub’ can with an incomprehensible born on or expiry date on the bottom, from the big bad Brewers Retail. Surprised I could still find this rare gem Pours a quite pale gold with a very large, rocky white head. Aroma: Corny malts and fuel-like alcohol, the typical Steelback characters. Flavour: More of the same, actually exactly the same with a sweet malty finish, and a slightly peppery aspect thrown in for no particular reason. Maybe even some fruity hints here and there, like banana, but in the absolute worst way possible. As it warms that trademark Steelback inexplicable sourness becomes more evident. Not what is commonly referred to as, "good", or, "drinkable", or even, "beer". Although I’m still glad to have been able to try this, as the tub cans seem to be a fading moment in Ontario brewing history, and it would be a shame not to be able to subject oneself to the awe inspiring crap that is, Steelback ’cold-filtered’ Draught. Tony Espesito, stop encouraging this, you’re not helping (Maybe I’m taking those stupid commercials too literally). "...leaves zero aftertaste." Sweet I hate aftertastes in beer (it’s not as if they’re an unavoidable end result of putting an edible substance in your mouth)(you morons). (Rating #1498) DuffMan (1943), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jan 2, 2008 Giant can (I didn’t drink the whole thing). Clear yellow gold, large foamy white head with decent retention and a little early lace. Aroma is sweet and vaguely corny. Featureless pale malt flavour, on the sweet side, very little hop presence at all. Quite sweet actually. Not their worst, but not worth seeking out either. Tessic (379), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Jan 1, 2008 I usually leave this "White Bread" beer alone as far as rating goes but what the hell.. This lager poured a light yellow colour with a really fast disipating bright white head. To the nose there are scents of corn and a little ripe fruit. Thats it. To taste isn’t too bad but it’s watery and full of that same old corn flavour so similar to most of these kinds if beer. This wasn’t bad but very boring and lacking in original flavour. dkazuk (229), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Dec 10, 2007 710ml can.
Very pale and thin looking lager yellow with a big foamy white head that disappears quickly. Smells of wet cardboard and lemon cleanser. Sweet malty taste thats pretty simple and boring. Ugly beer.
