Sweetish aroma, light grassy touches that could be the beer or the tasting environs. (5+) Flavour is mild, sweet pale malts, generic sweetness. Touch of adjunct like grainy character and sweetness (may not actually be adjuncts but that is how it was perceived). Average plus palate. Inoffensive for the most part but pretty dull. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 22, 2009 Steelback Premium Lager, sampled at the downtoan London Beerfest. A slightly deep shade of gold, with a fizzy bleached white head. Little retention, but does leave some spotty lace. Nose of pale malts and grains, quite fruity too, slight grassy hops. Tastes sweet of fruity malts, a bit of biscuit, sweet grains too with some bittering hops. Good carbonation with a grainy sweet finish, with a nice bitterness right at the end. matt7215 (981), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 11, 2009 341 ml bottle labled as Steelback premium Lager. 5% abv. purchased at the beer store. a hefty haul of emptys made this a free 6er, actually i even got $2.05 back after getting this free. pours golden with a short-lived white head. aromas of pale lager malts. complete lack of hops. flavour: slightly sweet, pale lager malt, no hops. this brew has a decent amount of flavour and what i can taste doesnt taste bad. add some hops and this could push the boundaries of a 3. a much better effort then the stuff that came out of the old steelback
