Steelhead Galapagos Stout

Utter garbage, a huge disappointment. I felt like I was licking an ashtray. Even the food was mediocre, overall I left the Steelhead premises feeling somewhat cheated... dark brown, a little light shining through, nice head, but it doesn't matter, can't get past the ashtray taste...

Served on handpump. Attractive deep brown-black, with a slightly medicinal liquoricy bite that fades quickly. Leaving a beautiful flavorful stout with wonderful real ale mouthfeel. I realize that every brewer can’t do handpump stouts, but they are infinitely better that those crappy nitro stouts. The mouthfeels of nitro and handpump are actually reasonably similar, I’d say that the handpump ones have larger bubbles, but they leave behind a beer which you can taste all the flavors that are there. The roasty malt, the hops, which I really enjoy. It just bugs me when brewers fo through the effort of making a flavorful stout, and then serve it on nitro tap and effectively rob it of most of its character. Sorry for the rant.
