Thick creamy head on a very dark red beer. Aroma is hops, hops, a hint of toffee, and hops. Flavour is like hop chocolate. Cool a Hop Chocolate IPA! beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2004 Pours a dark mahogany red with a very small fast falling cream head. Aroma is very hoppy with a sweet brown sugar malt backing to the aroma. Taste starts with a quick caramel taste then you get hit with a big dose of hop bitterness. Smooth brew for a higher alcohol warmer. One of steelheads better brews. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2006 This stuff is killer. That is all I can say. A very nice strong ale, that is immediately there in your mouth, right off the bat, you know what you are drinking. The malt character is rich and balanced sometimes on the overwhelming side, the hops attack your tastebuds, but nothing ever gets too out of balance. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2005 Dark mahogany with a creamy head and spotty lacing. Bitter and citrus hop aromas. Orange maybe. Malts of roast and caramel. Kind of toasty and piney. Hops are muted in the flavor, but the malts come out to play more. Thin body almost, finishes fruity and malty.
