Great aroma of citrus and some pine but mostly citrus dominates. Well balanced but dominated by hops. Not over the top, however, you can split a pitcher of two with friends and not be completely bittered-out. I thought it was fantastic. raphael (417), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 2, 2006 Hops not as explosive as ifrst i had this but still very impressive mix of the piney and the citrus, in aroma as well as flavor. surprisingly light in color and crisp in body, the preponderance of hops seems almost unfai; as if the brewers knew to not try a malt presence like most others. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 6, 2006 This was a very delicious IPA, rich and smooth with ample amounts of flavor and malt character. The hopping is so aggressive, but it never gets out of hand, it still stays balanced, right into the finish. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2005 Draft at the brewery. Mostly clear red and orange hude. More rounded flavor than their other hoppy brews. Seems like an imperial-red style (ASA), with notes of cherry wood, nuts, sugars, and very pine-like... jasper or something in there. Very well rounded although highly hopped - reminds me of Hog Heaven. beerinmarch (2822), Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 2, 2005 On tap at the Horsebrass. Pours a very murky orange with a thin white head. I was expecting a lot more hops out of this for the name and the fact that it’s a double IPA. Starts with a kinda malt/sweet hop flavor, not so much caramel sweetness in the malts as many double IPAs, but finishes with a medium citrus hop finish. The bitterness in the finish was a bit more subtle than i was expecting. It tastes like this had been aged a bit and the hops had died down a bit. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 3, 2005 Clouded orangey appearance, spicy hop aroma. Grainy malt flavor, strong spicy grapefruit. Plenty of bitterness but a little harsh. I think their IPA is better, more balanced. slimweebs (139), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

I am partial to IPAs, but this is how IPAs should taste! This beer is robust, very citrusy and hoppy. It has a very high alcohol content, but you cant really taste it. Too bad they don’t have it on tap more often!
