330 ml bottle. Dim golden body with a big foamy white head. Aroma is fruity and a bit spicy with a sweet sense of castor sugar. Flavor is sweet malt and spices, actually quite plain and one-dimensional. Drinkable on the sweeter side, but not exiting. Very average all the way.

Draught @ De Zalm, Roeselare, Belgium.
Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, spicy, over ripped fruit, moderate yeasty, coriander notes, light notes of rubber (no burnt rubber). Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20090308]

Bottle, 33cl. into a Trappist glass. Aroma of honeyed cereal, with an off-white finger deep head that quickly thins to nail deep, with some lacing. Light mouthfeel, bordering on watery, with all the promises of the nose disappearing on the tongue. Quite insipid on the palate; faint everything. Run of the mill.

Solid, though unspectacular. Makes Leffe look World class. Belgian Light in every respect.

A solid pour produces an almost four-finger thick, pale tan colored head in my 25cl tulip glass. The beer is a bright, copper gold hue that shows a brilliantly clear, and I mean brilliantly clear, rich gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of sweet honey-like grain, floral hop and fermentation notes, a touch of melon fruit character, some white grape aromas, a nice floral tart pear note, a touch of grassy grain, a light herbal note that adds some counter-balance.

The taste is a bit drier than the aroma might suggest, but does have a light sweetness to it that is accentuated by floral nectar and fruity notes. Flavors of pear, ripe honeydew melon, and a touch of herbal floral nectar notes up front are balanced by a biting bitterness and a peppery carbonic bite in the finish. This beer is pretty light bodied, even the palate presence fades pretty quickly, it does have just enough body to keep from being watery though. The malt contributes a touch of grassy grain, perhaps some cracker-like notes as well as a touch of honey-like malt.

I can certainly be a sucker for these lower gravity Belgian type beers, but this one just doesn’t really do it for me. It is lacking that complexity and depth of flavor that the best of the type achieve. Not bad, even worth trying, but not great.

Une bière correcte qui ne laisse pas de grands souvenirs. Le gout est faiblement prononcé.
