Stefano (1322), Esbjerg, Denmark Nov 7, 2009 Golden colour with a huge white head. Aroma is malt and heavy alcohol. Flavor is very spicy, too much for a tripel. Dry aftertaste, not the best tripel. marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Nov 2, 2009 This clear golden ale poured with a generous off-white head and a sweet fruity aroma. It has a typical Belgian tripel flavor, which is yeasty, carbonated and spice-laden, with some banana ester. However, there is a harsh element, perhaps from the spices, that makes this brew a bit less pleasant than the top beers of this style. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Oct 31, 2009 Bottle at pilsnerpeter’s. Thanks to everybody for their generosity. Hazy orange with head. Very clovey spicy yeasty grassy aroma. Spicy orangy honey sweet vanilla. Sweet. Pretty ok. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Oct 30, 2009 Pale golden pour. White head. The nose is light spicy and pleasantly dry. A bit of light wheaty malt and a kiss of clove and light mint. Lean and dry initially but as it warms, it starts to pick up a touch of honeyed sweetness. It’s pretty simple, but it’s well made and quite tasty. RuneStumo (495), FØRRESFJORDEN, Norway Oct 28, 2009 27.10.2009, 0,44l Bottle, Beer Palace, Oslo. Golden brown colour with white head servedin a Trappist glass. Aroma is malty with some sweetness. The beer is strong with a very nice bitterness. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Oct 21, 2009 Bottled. Another messy tripel. It seems that aren’t more than maybe 5 people on the planet that can brew this style right. Moderately cloudy with a small foam cap. Banana, clove, and a mild doughy note in the aroma hint at good things to come, but the letdown is inevitable. A weird, half-sweet, very vegetal and astringent flavor presents itself, making the beer very hard to drink. Swing and a miss. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Oct 14, 2009 Bottle: Hazy golden with a white film of head. Odd aroma- some vegetal character and pastry sweetness accompanied by an odd apple-like fruity hint. There’s some plasticy phenols in there as well. Light body with some Belgian pale malt doughy/pastry honeyish sweetness. Not much yeast depth or spiciness that I like to see in the style. Vague and not dry enough. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Oct 7, 2009 750ml. Clear to hazy orange with a small head. Aroma has banana, clove and the rest of the kitchen sink of spices. A bit of honey and citrus too. Flavor is mostly sweet, banana, leaves and faint spice. Some more honey, a bit bubbly.
