FROTHINGSLOSH (1560), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA May 13, 2008 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby-caramel color with a large yellow-tan head. The aroma was sour molasses and nutmeg. The flavor was dryish and lightly spicy with notes of molasses and strong butterscotch. The was a light fruity undertone. The finish was long with butterscotch. Nate (2291), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 10, 2008 Bottled. Nicely rounded malty aroma with a bit of caramel, mild buttery notes, and toasted grain. A bit of spice, sweet, with a light floral hoppiness. Dark caramel brown clear, with a medium foamy off-white lacing head. Medium watery body with medium-light carbonation. Starts fairly sweet, with caramel and toasted grain, a light spicy undertone like cinammon or something. Brown sugar. A little bit of bitterness in the finish with mild nutty aftertaste. LinusStick (1596), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 9, 2008 Blah. English strong ales are hit or miss with me. This was a miss. Aroma was nothing. Could pick up some light hops but hardly detectable. Pour was nice. A deep amber 2 finger off white head that lasted the whole drink. Taste was very weak. Hints of caramel malt barely shined over the strong carbonation. Very watery aftertaste. It does hide the ABV well. I would have thought this was 4%. Overall a blah beer. Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, caramel, and some spices. Tastes of the same. Thinner body.
