Bottle. Pours a dirty brown with a finger of head that dies to half its size in short order. Aromas of soap and spice... smells a little like a candle shop or something. Flavor is pretty bad. A lousy mix of cloying sweetness and glechy spices.

Bot a bad holiday beer, some hints of spice in the aroma/flavor. Decent alcohol....nothing great, but it was not that bad.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is malty, similar to what you would expect from a red ale. Taste is very subtle, but is slightly malty and spicy. This would be an excellent beer if the taste was more robust, but it isn’t bad.

Transfering from notes. Bottle. Darker orange brown pour with a nice medium head. Aroma is of spices(cinnamon, allspice), and also some caramel. Taste is quite enjoyable with lots of roasted malt and caramel mixed lightly with cinnamon. Not bad.

Another gift-basket beer from brother Bob--nice! Dark orange brown body that is deep enough to appear hearty... head is off-white, single-fingered and swiftly scattered... fresh, malty presence that offers some soft cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices (take note, Harpoon) pleasant but not overstated... live, vivacious, effervescent and much hoppier than expected-- a bit smoother as the glass drains... nicely balanced, a bit roasted and surprisingly hopped to a pleasant flourish-- a bit of "Coke" late... a brewery that’s conjured the images of dank coal basements and the smells of Penna. beer stores turns out a solid celebrator for the season. Wouldn’t have picked this one up, and shame on me for relying on appearance and association...

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of hops, light citrus, biscuit, spices, caramel, slight cinnamon, and lots of toasted malts. Poured deep amber/orange in color with a small tan head that disappeared. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of toasted malts, grains, caramel, hops, slight alcohol, light spices, and a hint of juniper berries. Medium body. Thin, watery texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, lightly dry, hop and toasted malt finish.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby-caramel color with a large yellow-tan head. The aroma was sour molasses and nutmeg. The flavor was dryish and lightly spicy with notes of molasses and strong butterscotch. The was a light fruity undertone. The finish was long with butterscotch.

Bottled. Nicely rounded malty aroma with a bit of caramel, mild buttery notes, and toasted grain. A bit of spice, sweet, with a light floral hoppiness. Dark caramel brown clear, with a medium foamy off-white lacing head. Medium watery body with medium-light carbonation. Starts fairly sweet, with caramel and toasted grain, a light spicy undertone like cinammon or something. Brown sugar. A little bit of bitterness in the finish with mild nutty aftertaste.
