hopdog (4645), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 18, 2008 11.2oz bottle. Poured a deep orangish / amber color with a larger sized off white head. Lots of huge and ugly looking floaters. Aromas of bread (rye bread), yeast, some dark fruits, and some spices. Tastes of dark fruits, and some caramel. Tastes on the softer side. Body was thin and kind of watery. BeerGestapo (351), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 24, 2008 (Belgium) Pours a nice burgundy color with a long lasting foamy white head. The aroma is of raisins, dark malts, and kind of grassy. The taste is of caramel, figs, and a hint of spices. The mouthfeel is zesty at first but turns kind of metallic in the finish. Overall, not bad but could use a bit of fine-tuning. dmac (884), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 16, 2008 1.2 oz bottle ourchased at Spirits RB. Pours a horrible disgusting looking muddy brown with large pieces of green particles pieces that setteled to the bottom. Hey who the hell put green clay in my beer?? No head at all and a flat body. Aroma was slight sweetness, candi sugar, cotton candy and slight pancake syrup. Palate is flat water, no carbonation at all. Flavor is flat with only a slight touch of sweetness, more sugary then fruity, coming through. Wow was this horrible. You know those two guys that have that pod cast where you challenge them to chug things?? Well I’m gonna email them and challenge them to sip this in a snifter .5 oz at a time, two bottles!!!!! Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2008 Very clear, dark amber. Solid malt, slightly metallic. Sweet and bland. Mild, inoffensive, sessionable, Kwaky. v64 (60), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 Very tasty. Medium head, pours light, murky brown. Slight aroma of dark roast and malts. Excellent balance of dark fruit and hop flavor. It is light for a dubbel, which is actually a pleasant surprise. There are certainly better dubbels, but this is worth a taste or two.
