I did not taste the soy that some people do. Not at all. Seems to be overly carbonated. I am not a big fan of this one, but would drink it again given a choice over a lot of other beers.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 15, 2009 Minimal aroma of nothing much really. Looks dark brown with some lacing and average head retention. Tasted like sweet honey, brown sugar, and watered down alcohol. At the end of the day, this isn’t the best abbey dubbel I’ve ever had, but I don’t think it’s as average as everyone else. It’s alright for the price. Cheers! cathcacr (592), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2009 The only main problem with this is that it’s just not very substantial. The aroma is a very pleasing fruity-type, and it presents a wonderful Belgian dark maroonish-brown with a fluffy head. But flavor-wise it ends not not too distinctive (even if tasty) and the body is hardly existent. On the lower end for the style, which still rates well for a beer.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Bottle. Dark amber body, slight hazy. Big, very fizzy off-white head that diminishes slowly. The aroma is sweet malty with caramel, cookies and toast. Notes of flowers, honey with hints of raisin and dark fruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately tart. Taste of chewy caramel. Light acidity throughout. Medium body with a velvety texture and lively carbonation. Nice balance between sweet and bitter/tart to start, but the aftertaste is slightly soapy from the lingering bitterness.
