Commercial Description:
Our darkest ale is smooth and full-bodied with a roasty malt flavor and creamy texture enhanced by the addition of oatmeal. When carbonated and served with our nitrogen blend, this beer has the look and feel of a chocolate milkshake. Distinctive coffee, oatmeal and chocolate flavors dominate this staff favorite. A subtle hop finish rounds out this vision of perfection.

First of all, this one is smooth as silk. Dark pour with big nitro head. Aroma of roasty malt, chocoff, some prunes. Tastes roasty malty, with chocoff, and a smooth, rich mouthfeel. Very good.

Coffee, nutty, chocolate, creamy, frothy, rich and lingering palate. Very dark distinct color, the head has a tan coloration. Somewhat looses carbonation at the end of the glass, but still flavorful and pleasant. My first stout and definately not my last.

Location: On tap at the Brew Pub, 8/12/09

Aroma: Coffee, oat, chocolate, roasty, light earthy hops
Appearance: Black color with a long lasting brown head
Flavor: Nice roasted malt flavor, flavors are similar to the nose, bit of hop in the finish, rich and flavorful
Palate: Long duration, full body, smooth and creamy
Overall Impression: This was a really nice beer, nice complex nose, and a big taste that had enough hop balance to keep it from being overly malty. Really well done.

on tap at the stoudts august micro fest, a very pretty nitro pour, the head started rolling up from almost the very bottom of the glass and settled out into a thick carpet on top of a jet black liquid. the aroma had tons of coffee and a hint of vanilla and hops. the brewer told me he was going for a hybrid of an imperial, foreign, and oatmeal stout with this, and i think he achieved it. as the flavor starts with the blast of burnt malts and loads of coffee, and ends with a sweet chewiness i normally associate with sweet stouts. then the foreign aspect became evident inthe aftertaste with the semi-sourness and disticnt hoppy flavor. an interesting experiment that i think was pulled off very nicely.
