Heatwaves (56), Santa Ana, California, USA Sep 5, 2008 What a peculiar beer. Weizen Gold had some of the most enticing aromas... but I couldn’t quite place it at first. Was it honeysuckle? Salt-water taffy? Then it hit me... Sugar Cookies. The darn thing smelled like sugar cookies! Perhaps even stranger, it actually tasted a bit like sugar cookies as well. This might make for a pleasant "dessert" beer, but I couldn’t ever imagine myself drinking more than one. KyotoLefty (113), Kyoto, Japan Sep 2, 2008 Bottle in Vienna, 2006.
Opaque golden color, full of yeast, extremely cloudy, nice head. Spicy, fruity aroma, quite strong. Bananas, cloves, coriander. Full malt flavor, with coriander, cloves, bananas. Very nice. Slightly sweet, spicy, with a sweetish finish. No faults, though not extremely interesting either. East drinking weissbier.
IrishBoy (2129), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 25, 2008 .5L bottle from GM Liquors; Nose has wheat, bananas, spices, and some powdered sugary sweetness; lightly hazy gold with a huge off-white head; flavor has bananas, cloves, very light hop bitterness, and a light contrasting sweet note. rlgk (3018), Motala, Sweden Aug 1, 2008 Bottle. Hazy yellow, white head. Wheat aroma, fruity, a bit sweet, candy notes. Fruity flavor, some banana, wheat notes, quite mild and pleasant. Citrus notes. DarkMagus (412), San Jose, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 Golden-yellow, hazy color with a white foamy head. Aromas were pretty standard for the style, but pretty heavy on the "spiciness". Flavors were on the light side... typical hefeweizen... banana, clove, again... heavy on the spice. No bitterness. Pretty light, watery stuff... alright, but not worth going after again...
