Pretty usual apperance, nice head. Super-carbed to the point where’s lining the inside of the tulip.
A bit of a thin sweetness, again over-carbed. Decent roastiness. Not half bad, pretty solid for the price. A dearth of good dark beers in a my life, this one might end up figuring in more than it should.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 10, 2009 A: Pours a deep black in color with a nice 3 finger head. The head quickly dies though and leaves just a small outer ring at the edge of the glass and there is no lacing to be seen.
S: Has a nice mild smell about it. There are notes of nicely roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. I would like a more powerful aroma.
T: The taste is mild as well. What is there is nice but I would like it to me more forward. There is a nice sweet maltiness at first sip. It is not until the finish that I finally detect notes of chocolate and coffee.
M: Way too thin for a stout, especially an oatmeal stout. This one needs more body and creaminess. Lagunitasfan (452), San Diego, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Thanksgiving beer at Colleen and Mike’s, because they knew I wanted "good" beer. Dark, in a light, kinda watery day. Red tints. Lil bit of cream colored head. Nose fruity malt. Taste a lot the same. Not too dark or flavorful or thick. Better than drinking fizzy yellow. 17thfloor (1498), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 25, 2009 12oz bottle from funkybrewster. Pours a dark near black with a slight red hue and a medium creamy light tan froth. Aroma is a bit fruity, quite roasty, slightly grassy, really strong on the chocolate, some dusty malt flour. Flavor is fairly complex but seemingly without focus, chocolate, harsh coffee, bit acidic, lots and lots of oatmeal, finishing very sweet and bright. Medium bodied with corse unrefined carbonation, very dry feeling mouth-feel with a vacant finish. Burrobuns (81), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 11, 2009 Fairly unimpressive pour. no real head even with an aggressive pour by the third bottle. Fairly good aroma on a beer of the price. Flavor is good. Roasted malt and coffee flavors. Pretty bitter. Thin feel. A little watery. Overall good. drjay44 (804), Salida, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 25, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours an initially thick, later deflating to thin mocha colored head, with extensive lacing, over a clear reddish black brown(SRM 35) body.....nose roasted malts (coffee, chocolate), minimal toffee....tastes of roasted malts with coffee, chocolate, toffee, finishing with a light bitterness.....mouth feel is light for an Oatmeal Stout, carbonation adds a bit of creaminess, but is not a rich and satisfying as many. chicagodri (1061), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2009 Picked up a six pack at Trader Joe’s. Pours dark brown/black with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor of chocolate and coffee as well. It is a little thin, but very good stout for the price. 0o9i (335), Reno, Nevada, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 2, 2009 12oz. Dark body with a thin, tan head and nice lacework. Aroma of molasses, coffee, oats. Mouth is medium with decent carbonation, fairly light and coarse. Flavor was roasty with molasses, definite coffee notes, baker’s chocolate, and the sweet goodness of oatmeal. Overall a nicely drinkable sweet stout.
