Jun 10, 2007 Im in shock I EVER got to taste this beer. First beer of Noogfest III many thanks to JohnC for sharing this. A cloudy yellow appearance with a vanilla, lemon, honey, bread and spice filled aroma. The flavor was very nice on this with some lemons, bread, orange peel, and a hint of pine. Slightly carbonated and creamy mouthfeel. Very good stuff. Oh and rating 1420! Woot!

Jun 10, 2007 Lets see if i get this right - thanks to JohnC for bringing this to Noogfest III, and thanks to Springslicker for saving me a taste because I was late. Cloudy orange, nice thick head. Lots of floaties, too. Citrusy, piney aroma, and sweet citrus and hint of pine in the flavor, as well. Nice smokey notes, too, and a dryish finish. Very tasty.

May 12, 2007 Bottle. Pours a slightly foggy orange body with a tiny ring of white, bubbly head. Cookie dough and typical Belgian-influenced aroma - fragrant caramel and spices. The flavour is sweet - kind of spicey with moderate fruit character. Noticeable alcohol. Pretty good, just not THAT great.

Mar 20, 2007 Bottle shared by goldtwins on 8/26/06: Pours a slightly carbonated clear golden with a thin wispy off-white head. Aroma of sweet, toasty, bready Belgian malt with some aged mild butterscotch complexity. Body starts with a sweet viscous biscuity maltiness, good light fruity complexity and a smooth, drier earthy and bittersweet finish with a touch of warmth. Well aged and balanced.

Feb 15, 2007 22 oz bottle into a Snifter glass. Pours a completely clear yellow golden color with basically no head whatsoever. The aroma brings out a very honeyish sweet malt characteristic along with a very doughy banana sense. Flavor has a rich manderine sense to it at first moving into a grapefruity hopped and slightly bitter finish. Very doughy. Feels like silk on the palate there is so little carbonation. Flavors are very mellow after five years. After hearing mainly poor things about this guy, I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t seem to be as impressed as most of the rest of you for some reason though. Kind of leaves a sourness on the palate after the finish. Doubt it will hold well in any condition until 2012!

Oct 28, 2006 From 22oz Bottle. Suprisingly lively hiss upon opening the bottle. Hazy golden pour with a healthy serving of frothy white head. Perfumy aroma of honey, banana, and a doughy cardamon spice. Intriguing citrusy hop characters add a sweet tangerine dimension to the bouquet as well. Medium bodied, silky mouthfeel with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very floral and creamy body with a baked cookie quality. Some more yeasty spice comes out and finishes with some more of the orange sweetness found in the nose. Many thanks to Rem for being the hostess with the mostest.

Oct 28, 2006 Thanks to Landseer for sharing this one. I thought I would never be able to sample this one. Pours hazy golden with a frothy white head, spotty lacing. Medium light mouthfeel and soft carbonation, but still bold in flavor. Aroma of honey, banana, and yeast. Flavor cloves, coriander, wheat malt, and earthy belgian funk. Medium dry finish with some hints of white pepper. Very nice, and easy to drink. So far, this has held up. I also like that this was not a huge, thick, and alcoholic. Very subtle but strong beer. Well done Greg.

Oct 13, 2006 Bottle. Hot damn, this was good. Thanks to Landseer for this taste treat. The man always comes through. This is one of the vertical series that seems to have aged well. Deep, cloudy amber with small off-white head. A very complex aroma with so many things going on. Big yeast, almonds, citrus hops, sherry, caramel, corriander, cookie dough, cloves, oh my! Gentle carbonation and a medium body with creamy texture. Big on flavor with all the olfactory elements carrying over for a gustatory delight with great complexity and drinkability. Unquestionably my favorite among the Vertical Epics to date.
