Commercial Description:
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. With Vertical Epic 03/03/03, we used some pretty interesting ingredients...coriander (a "Belgian-style" beer favorite!), alligator pepper (wow, bite into these little gems and you get a bigtime spicy rush of flavor), and a bit of both unmalted wheat and dark roasted wheat. And a blend of Belgian yeast and American ale yeast. And a nice selection of high alpha hops (a decidedly non-Belgian style twist). All told it makes for a dubble-ish taken-to-San-Diego-pushed-to-the-edge-and-slapped-around-a-bit beer. So, treat it gently. It's been abused enough already. Store it upright, cool and in the dark. It would enjoy a nice long rest. It will have plenty of patience. Now let's see about you . . . . In addition, we are pleased to provide the homebrewing recipe: http://stonebrew.com/timeline/030303

Bottle, from Kappy’s Fitchburgh. Good nose, sweet. Fruity, caramel, whisky/scotch, plum/raisin, apple, orange, cocoa, brown sugar. 1st pour was clean brownish orange , 2cd pour cloudy. Good head that faded to a ring. Flavor like aromas with the whisky fruitiness leading the way. Medium bodoed, slick oily mouthfeel, fry biting finish, little heat left in there. Wonderful beer. I found this mixed in with a bunch of the 05’s. It was destiny.

Thin coating of foam. Light carbonation. Reduces pretty quickly. Rich aroma with brown sugar, raisins, plums, spices and a hint of molasses. Everything but the kitchen sink. Color is a cloudy dark mahagony brown. Roasty flavor with more spices, yeast, and raisins. Little bit of alcohol. I wonder if this has changed for the worse over the past 2 years. Chalky palate. Empty finish. Pretty watery. Leaves a thick malty pasty in the mouth. This beer starts off pretty damn good but ends poorly. I am actually having a hard time finishing this bottle.

A hazy amber beer with a thin off white head. The aroma is sweet malty with a quite strong alcohol presence, while the flavor is sweet and again with the strong alcohol presence, but also with notes of wood and fruit.

(Bottle 65 cl) Clear, dark amber. Nose full of caramel and hops. Taste of sweet caramel and aroma hops. Spicy and somewhat herbal - I believe I can sense the pepper in there somewhere. Dry finish. Decent if not overly exciting - would love to have one for keeping another 7 years though... 120805 and 060407

Bottled. RBESG -05. Hazy dark copper. This is a big beer with subtle notes of everything. Stone house character. Most prominently in aroma are prune and UK tidbits. Flavour is very tidbitty with an ultrasmooth mouthfeel. Notes of prune here as well. The aftertaste is longlasting.
