Commercial Description:
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. With Vertical Epic 03/03/03, we used some pretty interesting ingredients...coriander (a "Belgian-style" beer favorite!), alligator pepper (wow, bite into these little gems and you get a bigtime spicy rush of flavor), and a bit of both unmalted wheat and dark roasted wheat. And a blend of Belgian yeast and American ale yeast. And a nice selection of high alpha hops (a decidedly non-Belgian style twist). All told it makes for a dubble-ish taken-to-San-Diego-pushed-to-the-edge-and-slapped-around-a-bit beer. So, treat it gently. It's been abused enough already. Store it upright, cool and in the dark. It would enjoy a nice long rest. It will have plenty of patience. Now let's see about you . . . . In addition, we are pleased to provide the homebrewing recipe: http://stonebrew.com/timeline/030303

Bottled. RBESG -05. Hazy dark copper. This is a big beer with subtle notes of everything. Stone house character. Most prominently in aroma are prune and UK tidbits. Flavour is very tidbitty with an ultrasmooth mouthfeel. Notes of prune here as well. The aftertaste is longlasting.

22oz - I just found this at a store in Noblesville, IN! What a find. Aroma is sweet carmel malt, subtle hop, and a bit of cherry. Pours a clear reddish-brown with a small head and good lacing. Flavor is sweet carmel, hop, and a little maple syrup. Leaves a tingle on the tounge, but is pretty smooth. Not sure how this will hold up over another 10 years.

Bottle at RBESG Grand Tasting 05. Amber, with a thick, malty aroma. Strong tasting, like a Barley Wine. Smooth, palatable, with a pastiness and heaviness, delivered smoothly. Sinkable strong beer.

Pours dark amber with an off white head. Citric, fruity, hoppy slight phenolic nose. Sweet, fruity and slight chocolatey flavour. Great bitterness. Stone has done it again.....another excellent beer.

Bottle @ RBESG2005. Sweet and sugary nose, notes of caramel and butter. Dark copper body, small off-white head. Some sweetness in the flavor, with a somewhat caramelly ending.

>Bottled @ RBESG2005: Amber coloured. Unclear. Light brown head. Sweet, fruity and marzipanlike aroma. Flavour is flowery, sweet and has some fruits in it. Is kind of dusty on the palate. Is sweet and medical in the end. Quite good.

Thanks to TheBeerCellar2 and alanC for this beer.

Poured a clear light brown with a fizzy off-white head. Sweet aroma of grapes, bubble gum, some candy. Taste is vinous, slightly sweet, and very dry... more so than other Epics. Touch of medicinal character in the aftertaste. Other than that, a very drinkable beer.
