Sweet aroma of pit fruit, raisins, cardboard and malt. Medium-bodied; Great hop/malt balance with flavours of toasted malt, caramel, nutmeg, pit fruits and a woodsy mustiness. Aftertaste clean, no harsh hoppy character-also showing a subtle spice. Overall, truly a treat (rare bottle around Washington), but lacking in so many ways! I sampled this from a 65 cL bottle purchased from R.F.D. in Washington, D.C. on 30-Decemeber-2003. Thanks Aaron for the go-ahead to find this beer! brewbandit (312), Marietta, Georgia, USA

Moderate mouthfeel with balanced maltiness and hop/spice profile. A nice quaffable brew welcome anytime. Dickinsonbeer (3451), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 27, 2003 Deep amber color bordering on light brown. Big body. Lots of esters and fruit, with some crystal and belgian malts. Somewhat yeasty aroma and flavor. For such a strong beer, this one is surprisingly smooth and easy to drink. I'm glad they give out the recipe for this one so I can make it at home! whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Has some well-integrated fruitiness. Delicately hopped yet nicely bitter. A fine beer all-around. Exceeded my expectations, but then again this is Stone. Thanks (again) to egajdzis the great for hand delivering this surprise beer to me at Monk's. slang (399), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 11, 2003 Tulip glass. Half-inch head settled to small white foam (lasting entire glass) covering hazy, reddish/brown ale. Short lasting lace. Sweet smell caused me to sip immediatly. The sweetness continued through to the taste buds, accompanied by a perfect balance of malts and sexy spiciness. I went through two glasses relatively quickly, very drinkable. Very nice alcohol warmth and pleasant buzz. An amazing "THANK YOU!!" to egajdzis for my first Stone Brew! Reid (1090), Salem, Oregon, USA

Pours a nice rich brown with a lovelly off white creamy head that lingers quite some time..very good.
How can I explain but the aroma of this beer is truelly wonderful stuff..its rich yet sweet and sherbety..very spicy..malty just great.
A lovelly well balanced taste yes there is sweetness..but its balanced very well..quite "spicy" good belgian style here.
exceptional in every way on the taste buds..
very very drinkable brew i love this.
I was told when i bought it..it would be even better cellared for 6 months..think i will buy a few more to cellar.. JPDIPSO (4906), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 29, 2003 Dark amber to tan color with a light tan. Heavy malt, dark fruit and mild alcohol aroma. This is a malt monster. Heavy malt flavors from the start. Some light spice mid to late in the quaff. Finishes quick and sweep the sweetness out of sight and a light pepper linger. This one will age with the obvious belgian yeast.
